GPS DEVICE FOR CARS

Firstly giving a little introduction to the GPS which stands for the GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM which is a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) developed by the United States department of defence ..It can freely be used by almost anyone .. GPS has become widely used to navigation world wide and a useful tool for map making , land surveying , scientific uses , tracking and surveillance and hobby such as geocaching ...

But here we're going to talk about the GPS device for the CAR ! .. This digital mapping technology has made an evolutionary leap . These portable navigation systems can help you to get your destination with audiable driving directions , color maps , points of interest and much much more ...

Here in Pakistan the very first navigation system in cars is introduced by Tracking World Pvt Ltd .Initially the detailed maps are available for the major Pakistani cities which include Islamabad , Rawalpindi , Karachi , Lahore , Peshawar , Quetta , Faisalabad , Hyderabad , Multan , Gujranwala and Wah cantt ..
Streets are labelled and searchable for Isalamabad , Lahore and some parts of karachi ... There are close to about 40'000 points of interest such as fuel/cng stations , banks , ATM's , hospitals , restaurants , hotels , shops etc .. You may also find address and phone no's information of most of these points ..

The navigation unit range from in car dash mounted devices to devices for motorbikes ... There is also a unit which can be integrated with the vehicles LCD and displays navigational information on it . Users will just have to purchase one navigational device and a map of the respective area ...Once configured , users can input for the point of interest or location addresses in the device which will speak out or guide drivers through screens to reach for their destinations .

Glimpse of future:Wireless electricity

Today wireless communication is possible, would it be possible to have wireless electricity?.The answer is yes.Electrical energy is known to be a thing of cables. Many of you imagined the electricity without wire and let me tell you are going to see it very soon. Its a reality in itself, you will be having all your appliances on wireless. With a new approach to electricity transfer, whose grounds were set at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, you will be able to recharge a cell phone or power up a computer without any cables. This time only wireless electricity with any degree of real power is a lightning bolt, or a high voltage discharge (arc). It is not something you can experiment with at home. Please dont mix it with solar energy, what iam talking here is how an electric source will supply electricity without wires. Some believe its out there, but is not available at the commercial level as there is a lot of work to be done on it.If you guys are getting amazed, think for a moment that telephone lines were wired, mobile phones are wireless then why cant we achieve wireless electricity?.Let me remind you that Radio waves create electric current in the receiver which is then amplified to create the sound that you hear. Now i hope you are getting it.if it's so easy then where is the problem?.

Problem with wireless electricity is that it is an inefficient way to distribute it. It spreads out over a wider and wider area the further you get from the source resulting in a huge amount of waste. And due to huge globel financial crises, one can hardly think of wasting that amount of electricity until the proper way of distribion of wireless electricity can be found.Ever heard about "phasor".it was basically an energy weapon developed by US military which believe to create an electric wireless circuit in the air.

Can the modern day technology produce a wireless electricity?

I don't see why not. Nikola Tesla had wireless power transmission figured out in 1914.It';s already being worked on in the labs. It may be a product within maybe 5 or 10  years. And there has been a device invented that plugs into youre wall socket, and gives anything within a few feet of it electricity, i don't think its on the market yet, probably still in the testing phase.

Will there really be wireless electricity in houses in the future?

This is what i believe can not happen for decades to come,Wireless electricity would waste 80% of the generated power - at least, probably. Power would be received only where there is a receiver, all other would be wasted. It simply won't happen until there is a proper way to distribute it as i have mentioned above.

In the next post i will have technical look at how it can be happened and what engineers think about it..share your thoughts on it.

Why people are hesitant to set up a BLOG?

I knew nothing about blogging about a month ago,i just knew that there are two top blogging services named as blogger and wordpress.I chose blogger without checking out wordpress.simply becuase i just wanted to have a go and set up a blog.i made the blog because i had nothing important to do,as im having vacations from my university. In my vacations ,im just enjoying and this blog is the part of the enjoyement. But the strange thing is that i,ve learnt alot about blogging in just one month and i only visit my blog when i have nothing else to do.It's been a very interesting journey to learn the basics of the blogging which i feel are very easy to understand.

People are hesitant to create a blog and the primary reason for that is the TIME,secondly people think they should not waste time on something which doesnt give you anything in return until you become an expert of it and it requires TIME again.Even people who have time dont want to do blogging as they think its not a proper channel to earn money.i completely agree with these people but making money is not the reason to set up a blog.Like this blog has developed an urge in me to learn HTML and web developing, and lot of other things we can do.Blog can be your source of learning and expressing yourself and i think one cant survive without expressing the knowledge and skills.

Things i learnt in one month:

1.How to create a blog,choosing a template,writing posts,editing and formatting the posts.

2.What to put in the blog's sidebar,giving tags,embedding videos.

3.How to analyse and show your blog statistics, show recent posts, make a poll.

4.How to ping your blog to famous blog services like technocrati.

5.How to sign up for feedburner, make youtube videos and use different widgets.

6.Publicizing your blog by social networks, communities and forums.

7.How to use Adsense, where to put ads, types of ad units and different advertising services/companies.

8.How to put ads within your posts, edit the html to adjust page margins and sidebar, adding widgets inside the post.

9.How to shoe only part of the post on your homepage, adding teasers and make a menu bar.

10.Showing only the specified number of posts for different tags and labels.

These are the few of many tips and  tricks i learnt about blog writing. So the bottom line is understanding the blog basics are not difficult if you want to and it doesnt take that much of time as i told you,i only visit my blog when i have nothing else to do..SO GO FOR IT.,.

Acer aspire one--part 2

In this post, ill be discussing the operating systems with which this netbook is available in the market and which is better for you according to your requirements.

This model has increased RAM from 512MB to 1GB and replaced a 8GB STD with a 120GB hard drive and costs only $20 more than the Linux model.this model is using Windows XP Home (Service Pack 3).and it comes with all the required softwares like McAfee Internet Security Suite, Microsoft Office 2007, Windows Media Player, and Outlook Express 6.
one of the operating systems named as windows 7 is very popular in the user.I had an experience of installing Windows 7 beta release and it was a good one.its great but it takes quite more space than your windows xp home and the installation process is also quite tedious.if you want to know how to install windows 7 on your acer aspire one then click here. Here some of the screenshots of Windows 7.

Acer aspire one--Part 1

if i define this netbook in simple terms,it is:

  • Very inexpensive(£180)
  • Reasonable features

Its not one of the best netbooks available in the market but i bet you,you can never find the netbooks in that reasonable price with so good features.i will discuss all of its features in quite detail.hope u don't get bored.

First and the best feature of this netbook is its DECENT KEYBOARD. Almost all the netbook manufacturers lost their head in making the keyboard of their netbooks.look at the netbooks from HP and other big names, their keyboards are so small that many people cant write large documents on them.on the other hand Acer aspire one got a very comfortable keyboard which gives you the natural feeling of input.
The second most important feature of this netbook is thats it ULTRA-PORTABLE.it is so small that you can carry it anywhere you want.its not only about its size but also its weight,it just weighs 2.2 lbs.so carrying it while shopping or on picnic will never bother you.

3 USB ports and 2 SD-CARD slots make it very powerful for work environment.Builtin 3G and WIMAX,but it depends upon from where you bought it,some of the products include it some don't.ACER ASPIRE ONE has many models.im talking here about the features which most of them include,i personally have A110L which has SSD type storage and its capacity is 8GB,but with 2 expansion slots available it doesn't bother me.it has a RAM of 512 MB which i feel sometimes,is not enough for some of the applications.most of the models has 1.6 GHZ intel ATOM processor with which im quite satisfied.

10.1 in (26 cm), 8.9 in (23 cm) 1024×600 LCD.i have the latter and is quite comfortable for me.0.3 MP Suyin buitin webcam is also included.

Now lets get back to reality.why is it so cheap while having so many features?.well what i found was two reasons apart from the processor and RAM and SSD capacity which are quite suitable if not very great. Those two things are

  • Terrible touchpad and mouse buttons
  • Battery life

The tiny touchpad and mouse buttons(on a flimsy rocker ball) are very painful to use.You need to really press it hard to make it work.i found it so irritating that i had to buy a separate USB mouse to cope with my work.

The other setback of this netbook is its small battery life.my netbook model ihas 3-cell: 2.200 Ah battery which doesn't give me more than 2 hours back-up time.but you can have a large sized battery of 6-cells to have more than 5 hours back-up time which is great.

For full specifications and details on ACER ASPIRE ONE click here.and for price details and to order it click here .

In Pictures:

watch this to have a clear view on acer aspire one though it shows the one with 120gb HDD.all other features are same.

in the part 2,i will discuss its operating systems and the comparison of acer spire one with the other netbooks.hope you enjoyed this post.

Science,Engineering and Technology

Once upon a time we were just plain people. But that was before we began having
relationships with mechanical systems. Get involved with a machine and sooner or later
you are reduced to a factor.
~Ellen Goodman, "

Throughout global history, human have ability to take knowledge of using tools and machines to do any
tasks efficiently and discover new methods to improve their lives.Science and technology has always
been around from the begining of time ...........................t evolves from the everyday efforts of people trying to
improve their way of life ...As it becomes evident from historical observations, research
was creation of the curiosity which is caused by the human nature.. Throught out the history humankind
has developed and utilized tools , machines and tecniques...

Definations have been given for Science , enineering and technology
because they are all different in their own rite even though the three are almost indistinguishable ...

The distinction between science, engineering and technology is not always clear. Science is the reasoned
investigation or study of phenomena, aimed at discovering enduring principles among elements of the phenomenal
world by employing formal techniques such as the scientific method. Technologies are not usually
exclusively products of science, because they have to satisfy requirements such as utility, usability and safety.

Engineering is the goal-oriented process of designing and making tools and systems to exploit natural
phenomena for practical human means, often (but not always) using results and techniques from science.
The development of technology may draw upon many fields of knowledge, including scientific, engineering,
mathematical, linguistic, and historical knowledge, to achieve some practical result.

We've arranged a civilization in which most crucial elements profoundly depend on science and technology.
We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology.
We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later
this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces.

So do you think technology is a prescription for disaster ????
